The Center provides aide to the needy in our community and stores our local food pantry. Pastor Rollings is a Charter member of the Board. Once a year our church sponsors a food drive to help supply the food pantry.
OCTOBER CHURCH PICNIC
During the cooler month of October, local church members and friends gather together to enjoy the east side property with a good ol’ fashioned church picnic. The outdoor event includes the finest church potluck cuisine, fellowship, and occasionally an outdoor game or two! The event is enjoyed by all and gives us a chance to spend time with one another.
THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON
Each year we sponsor a delicious all-the-trimmings-included Wednesday before Thanksgiving luncheon to honor our local Gulf Shores Fire-Rescue and Police personnel and our Winter Visitors and Friends of St. Jude’s. It is our way of saying “Thank You” to those who serve our community and support our church.
ANNUAL CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
In 2015 St. Jude’s began hosting a Children’s Christmas Pageant by the preschool class of Discovery Island in Orange Beach, AL. For 25 years the Sunday School class of St. Jude’s would participate in a pageant on Christmas Eve. The last of our Sunday School students graduated in 2012. Someone suggested we ask the Discovery Island (owned by a church member) preschool parents if they were interested in having their children participate in a Christmas program to be sponsored by the church. The response was overwhelming, and the first Pageant was a blessing to all! The evening Christmas Pageant is held in mid-December at St. Jude’s.
ANNUAL THEMED POT-LUCK GATHERING
Every February we have held a fun-filled pot-luck dinner for our congregation, winter visitors and friends. Past themes have included: 1950’s Ice-Cream Social, The St. Jude’s Circus, A Mexican Party, the Academy Awards Movie Night, A Country Western Jamboree, Island Life, “Sweet Home Alabama”, Agape (Christian Love), Ole’ Espana (Celebrating the Country of Spain) and “The Tastes of Italy”. Our pastor serves as our “Master of Ceremonies” sharing trivia about the church and the theme for the day.
